I have asked before, but will ask again anyway as I need some info...and your help getting it! My Mum Anne ( Bourke) Sheridan won a beautiful bronze medal in a state competition when at Primary School. She thinks that the essay was to do with the Jubilee Celebrations and /or about the visit of the special Jubilee Train with the decorated carriages, to Tungamah. She was presented with the medallion at a special ceremony but can not recall much about it...she thinks it may have been presented by a Government representative of sorts... I am hoping that some one will have some info about the competition or the visit or presentation...or where to find the newspaper article! She said there was a write up about her winning in the paper but I can not find anything (I have limited intelligence in researching which does not help). I would love to know her story, find some info and in a perfect world find a copy of the essay (wishful thinking). The medal, from memory was quite heavy to hold. There was other medals that hang around the neck, that were given to some school children as jubilee souvenirs, But this one is round with no place for a neck ribbon...it come in a velvet lined leather box with the medal inside? Hope someone has some idea about the competition that was run for all schools and about where I can find out some info regarding the medal! Soz to bore you all with this personal request but I need your help with this one! Cheers & Thankyou, Jo.
