I have avoided Glenn Beck over the years because for me the small exposure I had with him painted an incomplete picture. Beck struck me as maudlin or overly - tearfully sentimental. maud·lin ˈmôdlin/ adjective adjective: maudlin self-pityingly or tearfully sentimental, often through drunkenness. ** I like to think that, of everybody I know I have one superpower and that is the gift to eventually recognize where I am wrong and then to use my wrongness as a kind of soapbox of sorts... declaring to my street corner listeners the details of my error. Apologizing... or, providing the reasons for my erroneous conclusions, which is what the word apology means. I cannot express my sorrow sufficiently to myself and others for having avoided Becks teachings in the past. It is definitely my own loss and unfortunately the loss of any other person that had paid attention to my disinterest in Beck. This entire message is a message of hope. Hope that both sides of any issue can work toward sound principles. Principles based on the ideals that man does not have to destroy his opposition to succeed. Success can be measured by all of us remaining true to our personal ideals while allowing the expression of the ideals of others. Principles that by their very nature dismantle hatred. Time to jump on my SOAPBOX and declare loudly that I love Glenn Beck, even as sugary sweet as he gets sometimes and even though I do not agree with everything he says. This video is 48 or so minutes long and I am going to watch it repeatedly. As Mark R. Hunsaker describes it... it is brilliant. And... I plan on watching and reading more Beck. Merwin.
