I have been a christian for a lot longer than I have been a communist. I am 31 years old with two kids and getting married soon. I accepted the existence of christ at the age of 7. I was in foster care at the time and ended up spending my whole childhood trying to survive with my life and I did. I was 7 years old when one of my foster parents choose to send me away for a summer to a salvation army summer camp. It was there that I development a close connection and discovered the love of christ that comes with being a christian. It was there that I realized that I wasnt alone. I guess it help that at that age I was asking my self if God didnt exist then what created the big ball of mass that exploded creating the universe according to the big bang theory. Fast forward and my faith has still never wavered although my faith in humanity sometimes gets dumped on. What really started getting the debate going for me was the realization that I was in fact a communist and reading the book Dialectical Materialsm, the scientific and philosophical basis for marxism/lenism, a lot of chapters in that book still leave me wondering about how much I believe is really true. I dont doubt the existence of God but I do doubt how we have explained the christian faith to our own hearts and those who will listen. Not communists who call them selves christians but christians who..well....are just chirstians.....you know the tea bagger patriot types....and I am not just referring to the typical social conservatism that is prominent. I am talking about how some christians trust God so much that they have given up free will which in turn has led many to accept evil and other bad things around them. They have essentially given up responsibility to their fellow man and to the world that is not infinite. They have effectively choosen to ignore hurting and suffering because its gods plan...the social conservatism is just an added bonus. You have christians who hate communists because they know most are atheists but its also politics. But then you have communists who are atheists not because the evidence has been weighed and they just dont believe but because its just the communist way.(Not critiquing here. Just something I have thought about) Its quite uncouth to be a communist and A christian. Any how I wanted to start a conversation with all of my new friends here along the lines of do any of you have a similar story to me. CHristian first and then communist? Do any of you have doubts as to what you came to believe growing up. Did you have any cognitive dissonance with the two?
