I have been accused by Mr. Stuart Salter of being a racist. First - TopicsExpress

I have been accused by Mr. Stuart Salter of being a racist. First let us examine Webster’s New Riverside University‘s definition of a racist which is; “The notion that one’s own ethnic stock is superior”. My ethnic background is African, Cherokee, and French. Since the French are ethnically Caucasian, I come from the same ethnic stock as Mr. Salter. His claim of me being a “racist” is inherently flawed based on my ethnic background and Webster’s definition of what a racist is. Historically, You can count the number of African Americans on one hand that graduated from the University of Tennessee’s Mechanical Engineering Department before me in 1983 (The University was founded in 1793). I say this because I was the ONLY black in 98% of the engineering classes I took while there. For me to be a racist, I would have never survived and thrived there. Furthermore, Iv worked on several “black box” projects for the government while being the ONLY black in the group, again I would not have been successful if I were a racist as Mr. Salter claims. Let us now move on to what I view as an Ass backwards economic culture that I found when I moved back to Port Arthur, Texas from Los Angeles, CA in 2000. In the seven years I lived in Port Arthur, the best job I could get in the oil and gas/refinery industry was work at Labor Ready, earning $5.80/hour straight cash at the end of the day. My coworkers were Ex-convicts, drug addicts, and homeless people . With all the education and experience I had, it did not matter to those folks that did the hiring at the refineries. Working as a substitute teacher in PAISD, I found that the districts most important jobs, finance and HR were run by white guys who did not live in Port Arthur, same cultural phenomenon was happening in the PA city government and the fire and police departments. Granted Port Arthur was about 70% black at the time, so why was there an economic racial cast system set up in place in the city? After reviewing the political situation in Port Arthur I quickly found my answer. The city is run by a group of white businessmen who hand pick house kneegrows that set up city policy to benefit them and theirs. This is the “ass backwards” culture that I speak of. With all the money being made in Port Arthur on a daily basis by shipping and the oil refineries in town, it is no excuse for the city to be in the economic and environmental condition that it is in. Granted, I do not blame the “United Pac” folk for running their “pimp game” on the city, I blame the folk in Port Arthur who keep falling for the same Jigga-boo politics year after year by voting United PAC flunkies into office thereby keeping the ass backwards economic culture that I have described in place. Port Arthur criticizes have an opportunity to change the culture this week, what are you going to do?
