I have been asked to assist with a special project. I am hoping there will be a few folks or local churches who can lend a hand. Here is the mission: This years July 4th festival (downtown Gastonia) honors our veterans as well as current military personnel. As part of that we are having a Hero Walk and Ride. The walk portion starts at the pavilion and ends at Crowders Mtn. It is a 12 mile walk. We need several passenger vans that follow the walkers and as people feel they can no longer walk or just want to stop they can ride on the van. The vans will be directly behind the walkers and then police cars will be behind them. In addition, we need vans or buses to transport the walkers back to the pavilion once the event is complete. It is hard to know how many people will need transportation as registration is open till the morning of the event. We would like to have several buses ready and a few more on stand by if we end up having a lot of walkers. They would simply need to make one trip from Crowders Mtn to the pavilion.
