I have been at a loss for words since I received the news this morning, something that is decidedly unlike me. Even now, anything I say seems to pale in comparison to the impact that Terry had on my life, as well as the England family. i was a regular at New City for seven years, before Terry hired me in 2004, while I was drunk off my ass. For the next five years, there were days, and even weeks, where I would spend more time with her and Brad than I did my girlfriend, friends or family. She was more than my employer. She was my confidant, my tag team partner, and a damn good friend. I can safely say that there are VERY few people here in Edmonton who have had a greater impact on my life than Terry and Brad. It was Terry who gave me permission one year to be the judge for our Halloween costume contest, and it was her who gave me a microphone for the first time. She put her faith in my ability to talk to a crowd, and that is a night I will never forget, and I will always be grateful for. Without the England family, there would be no River City Zombie Committee, there would have been no Dexter Nebula, and I would not be constantly flying to the UK to hang out with my favourite band, as they were the ones who gave me the opportunity to meet them in the first place. I remember the night I met Joey Shithead of DOA, and we ate Halloween candy, and he talked at length about what a terrific human being Terry was. She was a rare gem, in a city that would have been otherwise decidedly more hostile and less enjoyable to many a wayward soul. She always had a kind word when you needed one, and she DEFINITELY had an ass kicking when you needed one. The world has become a little less awesome, now that she is gone. I will always be grateful and humbled by everything Terry did for me, and I am more than a little sorry that I didnt say it out loud more often. Rest In Peace, Terry. This whole city owes you a debt of gratitude. And my life would have been WAY more boring without you. I love you. And thanks.
