I have been diagnosed with a slight nerve issue which is annoying - TopicsExpress

I have been diagnosed with a slight nerve issue which is annoying and slightly painful. My sister sent me a very nice TENS unit (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) which is supposed to provide electric stimulation to the offending area and kind of flood the nerves with its signal so your brain does not see the pain signals. This in turn allows the area to relax and heal. That is the theory. I love this unit. It is not supposed to hurt but nearly and there are settings for different thresholds. It also has different sensation settings that replicate a massage, acupuncture, and so on. Important for this story, the cable to the electrodes is like a connection to ear buds on a cell phone. I have an employee who has used a lesser model for years. I offered him this for a trial basis having tried his in the past and knowing what the upgrade meant. He took it home and tried it that night. He did not feel any stimulation and continued to increase the power setting to about level 9 (I made it to 7 and quit - there are 12 levels). Then he noticed that he had not fully inserted the jack into the unit. Without adjusting the level of power he seated the jack and was met with a pretty serious jolt. He said he raised up about 6 inches when it hit him. I wish I could have seen that moment!
