I have been doing indoor stuff today and made chili. I kind of made up my own recipe crockpot style. :) At least the spices part. So here it goes... 1 lb. of grass fed happy beef, 1 quart of home canned home grown tomato sauce, 2 cups of beans(pinto and kidney I used) any kind you wish, a tablespoon of cilantro, tablespoon cumin, a handful of fresh home grown celery, tablespoon of garlic powder, a tablespoon of home grown basil, 3 tablespoons of dried ground chili peppers of the following kind ploblano, guaijillo, passilla, and lesser amount of jalopeno. I used a little electric coffee grinder to grind my dried chilis. Measurements are not exact and adjust to your likings. Late yesterday I heated up water in the crockpot and placed beans in it with a little yogurt supposedly helps with digestion of beans. You can use whey if you have it same concept. Cooked those all evening and shut them off before bed and checked water level. Took out beef to thaw. Started up crockpot this am, fried up the beef in sunflower oil and placed in crockpot. Add all other ingredients let it cook all afternoon. Best i have made yet. Jim says it would be good on tortilla chips and in burritos. I am not so cold now because of the cold rainy weather. :D
