I have been driving a school bus since late 2000 as part of my employment at Huntington Coach. So, as you would expect, I have some pet peeves. Let me list a few... How do people survive financially when they take so many days off? On top of that they travel the world, buy new cars, gamble, etc. I couldnt do any of those things if I took days off without pay. How do they? Why do I bring that up? Well, my primary function at Huntington Coach is to write computer programs, maintain databases, develop new ways to do things, train people, etc. For me to take 2-4 hours out of my day to cover for absentees makes it very difficult for me to complete my daily tasks. While driving I wonder why towns, villages and other government entities in charge of doing up street signs cant put those suckers where you can see them. And why dont they replace the ones that are swiped or have fallen prey to whatever? Driving with a load of screaming children is hard enough, why make it harder? How about making them bigger so us blind people can see them from a distance? I bless those towns and villages who do the right thing. They make life so much better. How about putting your house number somewhere it can be seen? Forgive us clueless drivers for not having more powerful psychic powers. Take into consideration that you may need to call the police, fire department, a cab or ambulance to come pick you up and take you away. Put the number up and make sure it can be read from the street during the day and night without the need of flashlights, floodlights or telescopes. For those of you who just cant stand getting stuck behind a school bus, we cant stand those super heroes who think that zipping past us on all sides is a good thing. We are authorized to report you to the DMV. Muah ah ah. Even though I cant stand getting stuck behind SLOW moving drivers, trucks, buses and tractors myself, I wont zip around them just out of consideration. In case you dont know, we have the most precious cargo in the world and some of them cross in front of the bus. Dont risk hitting one of them because your world would come to an end if you waited the extra time. Now, about driving behind people who do less than the speed limit, oy. How about pulling over to the side so the people behind you can go on with their lives? It is called road courtesy.
