I have been enjoying looking at all the photos of so many lovely arabians from the past and some who are still with us but in all the years I have been involved with these lovely horses the recurring theme remains a constant... What is happening to the breed and if only the lovely horses of the past were still here. When I look at my many old books, I see photos of arabian mares and stallions, geldings.... from very early days and they look exactly the same as the horses you see around now. I go to endurance events as often as I can get to them and look at some splendid horses, what is so wrong with them that people feel that the breed has lost its quality? They look just like the horses in my old books, some are tall most are not, some have fine bone some have a heavier frame, some have a dishy profile, most are straight like the photo on the top of this page right now, that is how they look and they are loved by their owners and treasured. I do not see a degeneration of the breed, I see lovely horses who are treasured by their owners... is it me who is wrong and missing the reality of a diminishing breed?... I dont believe so, the majority of arabian horses are not in the showring, disgusting a sector of onlookers, the majority are out there taking their devoted owners on rides or delighting them in the paddocks. Either way, people love their arabian horses just the way they are, there is so much more to them than skin and bone and muscle, they have huge personalities, highly intelligent brains, and deep and ancient souls..... and I love them all.
