I have been following the Seinfeld saga very closely. This post is quite a good take on how things have rolled. From my own point of view I stand firm and believe he has done no harm whatsoever. Some say his casual comments are disrespecting the autistic community. Well I have had many light and casual conversations with friends who also after talking to me have said that they might be on the spectrum, this has happened so many times and I think nothing of it. I myself self diagnosed my condition and I was proved right when I finally got my diagnosis. There is nothing wrong with musing whether we are autistic or have traits. People are saying that he is making light of autism and his comments are misleading people as to the perception of severe autism. This I also feel is not true, as nobody has a right to say their part of the spectrum is any more important than another. The autistic spectrum is huge and ranges from those who have a very severe degree of autism to those who have families, work and are more able to contribute and socialize withing society. Then there are also those who seem to move along the spectrum and their diagnosis may change from time to time. From my own perspective the whole spectrum is linked by the autism thread, and therefore autism is not one point on the spectrum, it is more like a myriad of points all over a vast and colorful spectrum. The question I have asked within my other two posts on this subject is: what is this criticism really about? and is it really autism related or something deeper? Brian
