I have been getting a lot of questions about Skyes celebration of life, i am re posting her obituary hear, Thank You. Skye Gina Pilato “Skye’s the Limit” Skye Gina Pilato, age 19, beloved child of Keiko Anne Ratcliffe and Michael Angelo Pilato, died Sept. 30, 2014 at The New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. She was born March 7, 1995 in State College, PA. Skye loved her grammar school years at the Friends School, and her high school experiences at the Delta Program from which she graduated in 2013. She had been looking forward to studying in North Carolina to become a registered nurse. It was her innate desire to help others. As a child and teenager, she was an accomplished swimmer and artist,creating sculptures out of re-cycled materials and showcasing them at the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts. She appeared in school plays and loved to sing; she enjoyed all things unique, and was always very crafty with her hands from creating music on her guitar to creating beautiful jewelry and all sorts of things that she would come up with! Her favorite subjects in school and curiosities were History, English, Poetry, Drama and Art. In later years Skye developed a talent for guitar and songwriting. She would spend hours in her room creating, playing and singing music. Her hobbies included collecting music, hula-hooping, reading (especially Harry Potter), kayaking with her mother, and painting with her father. She was a Young Democrat working on the Obama campaign, and an advocate for womens rights and for the prevention of violence against women. She cared about the environment, and was passionately devoted to social causes and human rights. Skye will be remembered for her kind, warm heart, love of life and learning, brilliant smile, her beauty, quick wit, spirit of adventure and the tenacity that allowed her to achieve success in many diverse ventures. She is survived by her mother, Keiko, her father, Michael, and on her mother’s side, her grandparents, Howard and Kazuko Ratcliffe, her uncles and aunts John and Shellea, Paul and Kim, and Brenda and cousins Lleyton, Summer, Ethan and Evan. On her father’s side are grandparents Guy and Grace Pilato, uncles and aunts Lisa and Kym, Thomas and Tracy, Mark and Alyssum, and Natalia, and cousins Tyler, Noah, Carmen, Guyaton, Max, Jazelle, Grace, Soleil, and her many friends. A Celebration of her life was held at the St. James the Fisherman Episcopal Church in Shallotte,NC on October 7, 2014. There will be a memorial service, followed by a celebration of her life on October 18, at 2:00 pm in State College, PA at St. Andrews Episcopal Church.
