I have been given me the opportunity to help occupy Facebook with ART! My friend, and fellow artist, Christine Betts has given me the artist Tracey Emin to explore/promote/find/talk and read about. I had not heard of Tracey Emin before today but she seems to be a most intriguing individual; an out there kind of person who has created some very different, and some controversial, art. She sounds like she has a big heart and is someone I would love to have a chat with and discover more about. If you like my post and Ill assign you an artist, possibly one youve never heard of. Now a little bit about Tracey (as discovered by searching the web, including Wikipedia). I have included one of her limited works as a link at the end of this post. And more in the comments below! Thank you for reading and sharing this experience of Art! In November 1993, she had her first solo show at the White Cube gallery, a leading contemporary art gallery in London. It was called My Major Retrospective, and was what is now seen as typically autobiographical in her work, consisting of personal photographs, and photos of her (destroyed) early paintings, as well as items which most artists would not consider showing in public, such as a packet of cigarettes her uncle was holding when he was decapitated in a car crash. This willingness to show details of what would generally be thought of as her private life has become one of Emins trademarks.
