I have been here the last few days (28+) taking on the responsibility of the home life. It seemed every day to be one more responsibility added, baby pigs (16) via a C-section (thank you Brenda Phearson the support and help with the trailer were fantastic). One new lamb whose mom prolapsed. It is so awesome to have vets who make house calls (thank you OSU veterinary program). I faced a foot plus of snow, with the reminder of the 6 plus days without water during the last freeze fresh in my memory. Flickering electricity with looming power outages on the horizon, thank you Casey Kaczmarek for the help with the generator. Maintaining a feed lot under adverse conditions, thank you Ben Barnes for the awesome help. Thank you also to Kimberley Cole, Kristina Kaczmarek and Colleen Kaczmarek. The beauty of new life, of the frosty sparkly snow, joy of working with the kids. Ya know, life really is pretty cool. The tragedy of lost life, even if they are (just) piglets is touching. But until Drew came home I felt like Atlas holding the world up. Today I can relax, breath, walk slowly through the snow admiring the beauty of it. I can linger in the barn and breathe of the beauty and glory of new life. I can take the time to write without the weight of responsibility dragging me off. Thank you Drew, I love and value you more than you can know.
