I have been involved with ColSA since September 2011, when I was introduced to it by Jennifer Parra, Senior Advisor during that school year. As Director of the Beyond the Wall Campaign- Colombia, my goal was to have the two organizations working together. Ever since, ColSA has helped Beyond the Wall by organizing a party, a soccer match viewing in order to raise funds, and three soccer tournaments during the presidencies of Jessica Barreto, Nicolas Alejandro Gonzalez, and Esthefania Diaz. I also had the privilege of becoming Treasurer of the club during the 2013-2014 school year, which was an honor as I had the opportunity to be part of the only Colombian organization in a school of almost 60,000 students. I enjoyed my year as an officer very much and was able to grow a lot as a person. In April 2014, I was elected President of ColSA, something that I never thought would ever happen when I first became involved with the club. Unfortunately, I was elected during a troubling time in my life as I was going through a mental crisis that included frequent anxiety attacks; this situation is still ongoing, but it is luckily getting better. Even though I have been receiving the help of professionals, my issue has affected my work, school, campaign for Colombia, family, friends, and of course, ColSA. Its very difficult for me to announce that I can no longer continue as President of ColSA for the Spring semester as my health issues do not permit me to do so. I hope that everyone understands my situation. I cannot express in words how happy I am for being part of an organization that has allowed me to meet lifelong friends, participate in great events, and create memories that I will always cherish. I am also very grateful that ColSA has helped me achieve many goals with Beyond the Wall; we have helped many needy people in Colombia thanks to this alliance. Furthermore, the fact that I was able to be represent Colombia in my school has no comparison as I will always be passionate of my heritage. I would like to thank the current e-board and advisors for all of the support with this situation. I am happy to announce that Lissy Rivera, our Vice President, will take over as the new President starting in the Spring of 2015. Good luck y que viva Colombia!
