I have been looking at nano research and how very cool our lives will be in the next twenty years. Nanites are small machines that can operate and build things on a microscopic level. Right now, today nanites are being researched in the fields of medicine, food and the fuel industries. You thought the industrial revolution changed things, or the computer revolution, we now live in an age that the research of just one year, 2013 will advance man more than all of our ancestors advancements in the last million or so years........... Within five years we will have a drink that will be sold in stores that will have simple sugars, H20 and simple fatty oils. When this drink is placed in a microwave type unit which powers the nanites the consumer will be able to create hundreds of differnt types of drinks. Within ten years nanites will be making our groceries from blocks of simple proteins and oils. This is no longer science fiction, this is being researched today. Nanites will be able to convert huge amounts of sea water into fresh water, meaning that large portions of the world will have access to fresh water and many of the worlds dwindling aquifers can be refilled. Doctors and paramedics will be able to create blood for trauma victims and build medicines at the scenes of accidents. injections will keep the blood oxygenated keeping the patients brain alive for hours even after the heart has stopped. We will have clothes that will never rot. These articles of clothing will not only repair themselves, but will self clean themselves. With the advent of these technologies we will see a 100% self sufficient and self recycling world. Above every thing else, these machines will make space travel and long term colonization of other planets possible. If we do not destroy ourselves and the warp capable star ship that NASA is building today, works, by the end of our lifetime we may have colonies on distant stars. Let us just hope in the next few decades we do not destroy ourselves.
