I have been looking at the events of the week and wondering when fair play will ever be exhibited in Ugandan politics! Since colonial times suppression of the masses is the norm. Take a look at the Entebbe event, then forward to the Kampala carnival then go all the way to where the other album launch was going to be turn to Mpugas procession in Masaka can the powers that be prove that the NRM events permission was sought and the law was followed to the letter by giving a weeks notice? 2) Did the carnival not disrupt the businesses of people in the central business district as they always would want us to believe when the opposition wants to hold rallies or processions there? In luganda there is a saying that bwonyiga enyindo ekiddirila musayi kuyiika Pressing something delicate may lead to dire consequences it is similar to the law of elasticity in science that says there is an elastic limit to many things. So what is happening may lead to the suffocated masses uprising as they look for breathing space. This unfair treatment may not be sustainable in the long run.Look at what took place in Kaliro! Who mobilized that mass of people to turn up? Recall the Kayunga events and how the central districts reacted at very short notice. It will take a very small event to galvanize the people and our country will be in upheaval all because of lack of space to organize themselves better. Remember the Soweto uprising and how it led to the critical mass which led to the demise of apartheid is South Africa, despite the army and police who were better equipped and motivated than ours truly. So in Uganda there is political apartheid at play and if the powers that be do not wisen up they are about to hand themselves under the delusion of belief in might forgetting that people being used to sustain them are Ugandans whose brothers, sisters, relatives are being tear gassed on every pretext of managing riots and public order in a skewed way.
