I have been nominated by Catherine. I would like to be part of a wave of Classical music on FB to break up the monotony. Maybe even awaken a new interest in some, for the beauty and genius in our great musical fore fathers. Take some time out of your day and LISTEN! As such I nominate 5 people to post a piece that they love and a little info about the piece. youtu.be/ASB6hFUat4g Needless to say I chose a Trumpet Concerto, and one of the more obvious trumpet concertos. What isnt known is that most conventional trumpets are in the key of B flat, where as this piece is written for, and played on the higher pitched E flat trumpet. Also, this piece was written shortly after the keyed trumpet was invented. Prior to this, trumpets could not change the pitch of the instrument and only had a limited number of notes (like the bugle). This piece was written by Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) for his friend, Anton Weidinger, who developed the keyed trumpet. I now nominate the following five people to perpetuate this wave of culture: Darren Turner, Claire Wagman, Dan Elson, Brian Lee Robertson, and Harry Somers.
