I have been nominated by the fabulous artist, Pam Hawkes to post 3 photos from one of my art projects every day for 5 days. Pam is a fellow metal head (not what you think), who I met on FB several years ago. Ive been a fan of her work since, and finally met her in person earlier this year at TRAC 20I4. Now, in turn, I nominate Steven Kenny, who creates wonderfully imaginative work. These works represent one element of my work where I create imagined, grandiose spaces. I am heavily influenced by the notion of the sublime, and equally fascinated by ethereal light and elements of mystery. These works are examples of my excursion into playing with gold leaf, copper leaf, composition gold, chemically-induced patinas and oil on panel. I began experimenting with these materials about 9 years ago. I was trying to capitalize on the reflective properties of the material to create light that appeared as though it was being emitted from within the painting itself. The first work is Ovum 2; 36 x 36; the 2nd is Window, 36 x 36, and the 3rd is Threshold; 48 x 48. I will try to amplify my explanation of each work when you click on the individual image (if so inclined).
