I have been on a roller coaster of emotions in the past 24 hours. There was a window yesterday when Allies fever actually broke for a very short time. And then she crashed. Almost everything that could go wrong, did. Her heart rate was 200+ beats per minute, she turned grey, her temp was 106 and showed no intent of going down, her blood pressure was 70/30, she was septic and she was crashing. Her hemoglobin was dropping very fast. Her attending was called and he said the line must come out NOW. She needs a blood transfusion NOW. Once surgery arrived, she was to sick to operate they needed to give blood, the blood products seemed to make her sicker and needed to be held, that in return making her sicker. Allies palliative care/hospice nurse showed up to the hospital this morning at 7am. I had been keeping her updated throughout the admission. She came in this morning to write Allies DNR (do not resuscitate) order and to have John and myself decide how we wanted Allie to spend her last days or hours. She was that close to the end. There is no word to describe the way you feel as a parent knowing that you may have to watch your child die and to have to do so knowing that they are sick and hurting..... there just isnt a word. Allie was finally taken into surgery. The infected line was removed. To look at her now, you would never know she was so close to death. She is sitting on the bed playing her ipad. She is fussing at nurses and drinking sweet tea. She will have to go back into the OR once the cultures come up negative for 48 hours and have a new line placed. Allie will spend this Christmas just as she did her first Christmas, in the hospital. My family and I are eternally grateful for all the prayers that you have sent up for our little warrior. God heard our pleas and answered our prayers. Thank you all for touching God for us! https://youtube/watch?v=ITj6GcK4cWk
