I have been pondering as to why the leaders of the three parties - TopicsExpress

I have been pondering as to why the leaders of the three parties can agree on something as important as the make up of the UK, and yet bicker continuosly over how that UK should be run. If they showed consensus and could debate respectfully in the house of Westminster, then perhaps we wouldnt be clamouring for independance now. The cynic or is it realist in me, understands that this concensus, is really concern - maybe panic about the size of their power base - They want to be in charge of a bigger playground. Well if they had run that playground with a bit more sympathy to the voters who didnt put them in power, they wouldnt be losing that power. I know we have discussed before that there are hard working decent representatives in Westminster, but I truly believe that many are more interested in hanging on to pwer so they can proceed with weilding power. In the event of a No vote, I dont believe that the three parties (and others) will ever agree on extra powers for Scotland, in the way they cannot agree on the nitty gritty of running a country - I believe they will consider themselves to have Won they will be in power and it will be business as usual. In the event of Yes vote, we, I hope (and would even pray if I believed in any supernatural power) that a New Scotland can have a parliament which will remember that it represents the people who didnt vote for them, as well as those that did, and that consensus and dialogue is the only way to run a just society....If we win and I dont like useing that phrase... we have to engage the no voters in our journey forward....It is not victory that is within our sights, just the steering along a different road.
