I have been privileged to have known, and fortunate to have met, some truly amazing African people. In my own homeland of Zimbabwe, in the neighbouring countries with which we share so much culture and history, and where I have had the opportunity to visit; South Africa, Mozambique, Zambia, Malawi, Botswana, and Namibia, and those farther afield where I have sojourned; Kenya, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Nigeria and Madagascar, I have had a quintessentially African experience and I cherish every memory. Even though I have many other countries, that I have not yet seen, and may never visit, I am overawed by their people and the stories that emanate from them. Africa is an amazing continent! Her light and hope, potential and promise, and present vitality is greater than the darkness and shadow that may be cast over her. I am proud to call this continent home, and to call myself African. Happy Africa Day to all my fellow Africans!!
