I have been reading through Exodus, Lev., Num., and now pacing myself through Deuteronomy. I am going through the 10 Commandments that Moses is repeating to the Hebrews before they go in and take the land of Canaan that the Lord promised to Abraham. Moses is giving a brief history of the Exodus of Egypt and refers to "Pharaoh" king of Egypt. Sometimes we forget what it meant to be a "Pharaoh". A Pharaoh was considered to be the "divine" incarnation of Horus(the falcon god), and or, the son Re(the sun god). Historical culture believed the Pharaohs were deity, but these "kings" were empowered by demons. When Moses came against Pharaoh, Pharaoh believed that Moses was deity and was empowered by the God of Israel(Ex.7:1). Moses was empowered by the Holy Spirit as opposed to Pharaoh being empowered by the demons. The Egyptians had multiple deities(gods), but the one true God of Israel would defeat all of the Egyptian gods to express His power and make it known through His prophet Moses. Every Pharaoh has died and every prophet of God has died. Therefore there remains a conflict and will remain a conflict between the god of this world and his angels with the Creator and His angels, until the return of the glorified Jesus Christ. You can call this the battle of the gods(Ps. 82:1-8). But the God of gods rules over it and He is Jesus Christ, who has risen from the dead, who was God Most High of very God, and Man of man made of the seed of the women. He will come and restore what He started in Creation when He returns with His glorified saints who will rule and reign with Him(Mic.4:5;Rev.20). The god of this world will be bound and lose all authority and the gospel will go forth unabated and unhindered to the ends of the earth, yet because salvation is of the Lord, they will still curse God in their hearts making room for the final battle when Satan is released to be destroyed with all who choose to believe the lie and reject the gospel of Jesus Christ(Rev.20:7-15).
