I have been reliably informed by Paul from The Hogs Head La Marina that 1.The blanket ban of all entertainment in Quesada was the result of a vendetta by a couple who phoned the national police in Valencia after being thrown out of a bar (Okay, it was Harrys Bar). They were sub-letting and didnt pay the rent for 4 months so were thrown out! The mayor of Quesada along with all bar owners in the whole area are very angry about this. 2. The Valencian rule does state that no mics or amps to be allowed in bars etc. BUT the local councils are allowed to change that ruling. Most choose not to, so maybe pressure needs to be put on each individual council to address this? 3. La Marina is in the process of having a bar association set up. The mayor and 90% of the bars have been to a meeting and have agreed to join. If your area doesnt have one, then its time to ask the pushy bar owners to speak to the rest of the bars in their area and set one up. Making sure that the Major is on their side. That way everyone is on the same page, and everyone benefits from group events that are arranged. Quesada does not have a bar association! 4. As to general fiestas - these are allowed by Spanish law as they are counted as religious festivals. Hence the ones this weekend for Our Lady of Peace. Any group of bars are allowed to apply for licences for 2 mini fiesta per month if there is a good reason. These would include Religious festivals, bar anniversaries and charity events. It is up to the bars to get together to organise these and bring people into the area. 5. The onus for licencing is with the venue who does the bookings. They booked you so if they dont have the paperwork, it is a chance they are taking. As long as entertainers have their own paperwork then they shouldnt be at fault. Do you think that you should be asking if they are legal?
