I have been researching so much and have been feeling so conflicted between getting SPML surgery for Sophie (the less invasive kind that just makes something like tears in myofascia not the full tendon lengthening) and SDR. We havent gone through the process to have her approved for either yet but from what I can tell she most likely would be a candidate. At her age, I wonder if SPmL first would be more beneficial to allow her to build up her muscles and function prior to a more invasive surgery like SDR which will require a much longer recovery time? I know that I want to do something for her now to help the most I can for later on in her life. I am just very torn on what would be best for her. I am also concerned with the long term effects of SDR... Is there anyone that is much older that had it done as a kid and have there been any negative side effects? Also, I feel Sophies core strength isnt what I wish it was because he sitting posture is poor, I thought SPML may buy us some time to work on that by loosening her hamstrings. Has anyone done SPML or the procedure with Dr.Dobbs first and then SDR later. I understand it is generally recommended to have SDR first. One other concern, Sophie has some sensory processing issues, does that effect the outcome of SDR?
