I have been saying for decades that armies are the perfect workforce with the pull to do such humane feats as building ecological Ocean Farms. So we can make use of the great benefits we could derive from our oceans by farming them properly and caring for the planet instead of ruining everything they touch. Enough is as good as plenty, as the saying goes. Or for instance they could put such forces and resources together in order to drop a vast turbine or two into suitable Atlantic troughs where the power of the ocean currents would provide all our energy needs. Such a device would be heavy enough and under enough pressure to stay in place without the anchorage problems associated with offshore harnessing of the much less efficient waves. We have been running underwater power lines since the turn of the last century. Plus it would cost a far deal less to put into operation than the stupidly uneconomic and unclean poorly designed nuclear power stations we have been inveigled into accepting. This idea would work and would plug directly into our national grid so easily. I am talking of a turbine which has more mass than the largest oil rigs but would be serviceable and operational for many many decades. But of course while we have leaders who think of nothing but short term solutions, we are never going to get the things our Children and Grandchildren might one day thank us for providing.
