I have been seeing a lot of angry statuses the past few days. And while I am also outraged and deeply saddened, I feel strongly that you can not stop violence and ignorance with violence and ignorance. Those who have made a true and lasting social difference throughout history understood that. They understood that killing two NPYD police officers would not bring back those men killed by police in ferguson (justified or not, is not the issue) and that it certainly would not reduce the bias against minorities within the justice system. Arguably it will do quite the opposite. Real lasting social change comes from changes in legislation. By getting off your damn ass and voting for politicians and legislation that will invoke positive social change. We live in America for Christs sake. Its a democracy. We vote on EVERYTHING. So guess what, we created this. We created a society where a man actually thought it was a viable solution to not only assassinate two cops but to post it proudly on social media. We are all accountable for the perpetuation of ignorance and violence. So if you really want things to change, dont post about how we should now kill the mayor because hes such a shit. We have a real opportunity here to all be the change we want to see in the world. So Get out there, get informed, and start informing. Education is the answer. Not killing everyone we think is stupid.
