I have been seeing movies at the following theaters: 1. Edina Theaters 2. Lagoon and Uptown Theaters 3. Grandview I hope they are still at the theaters in question. Here are the movies I have seen lately; 20 Feet From Stardom twentyfeetfromstardom/ Unfinished Song weinsteinco/sites/unfinished-song/ Still Mine samuelgoldwynfilms/ The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel – This one was out last fall. It is now on DVD imdb/media/rm1114353664/tt1412386?ref_=tt_ov_i Unfinished Song will make Don cry. It is about a terminal cancer patient. She becomes a member of a local choir and her husband always drives her to rehearsal. She becomes bedridden and passes away. Her husband doesn’t know what to do with his time and ultimately joins the choir. It made me cry. The husband reminded me of my own father and touched me deeply. Still Mine is about a husband whose wife is suffering from Alzheimer’s and is getting progressively worse. He decides to build a one level home so she won’t fall and hurt herself. He live on over 200 acres of land and begins building without permits because it is his land for his wife. He butts heads with the local building inspector over permits and is taken to court. It is based on actual events. Unfinished Song is a documentary about the back-up singers hired to sing with famous artists yet wanting a career of their own. One of them was in the original Raylettes (Ray Charles), another was with the Ike and Tina Turner Review, still another was a back-up singer for Phil Specter and was lead vocalist on some big hits that were credited by Specter to other artists in his stable. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is an ensemble movie with some very well-known British actors. It is about some people who retired to a hotel in India based on a promotional brochure. The hotel turns out to be very run down and the story of each person and each couple continues from there. It is very good. All these movies had actors who actually showed their age, no plastic surgery, very few if any special effects. All the stories are touching and real. There are no car chases, nothing being blown up, no endless fight scenes of the hero chasing villains, no blood thirsty villains either. What a concept!
