I have been self-employed for the bulk of my years, occasionally - TopicsExpress

I have been self-employed for the bulk of my years, occasionally taking a short term job here in there when times were a bit tough. It takes a tremendous amount of hard work and long hours to make any business successful. I see some of my friends working intense, long hours; putting in the time to make it happen. While others expect things to fall into place overnight. As a business owner, you don’t work 8 hour days, or 5 day weeks, you work 12-16 hour days or longer, and 7 days a week. And as you grow, you are still monitoring the employees that come on board to make sure that you are not hit with lawsuits because of mistakes, theft because of your absence, or other issues. It is exhausting, sometimes to tears. I recall trusting people who turned out to have hidden agendas. They did not care about me, but instead were only hoping for a piece of my money, they talked behind my back and tried to sabotage everything I did, they smiled in my face, yet I always found myself pulling knives out of my back. The worst thing about it, was that they many lead me to believe they were my friends, yet they were always my enemies. Building a business is hard, but the rewards on the back end, if you can hang in there can be tremendous, and you can become more successful, and make more money than most jobs could ever offer you. To my friends out there stressing while trying to build your business ... hang in there. Keep your eyes open, watch your back closely, but don’t let anyone take away your dream. The haters are out there, and they will only hate on you even more as you grow more successful. Don’t let them stop you!
