I have been sharing the biblical qualifications for leadership - TopicsExpress

I have been sharing the biblical qualifications for leadership from I Timothy 3. We have looked briefly at Godly Service beginning with a holy ambition (a desire). Then we began looking at Godly service being matched with character. We looked yesterday at two qualities.... Blameless and of good behavior. This morning lets remember that Godly Service (leadership) must understand Godly discernment. This is a timeless and vital principle. Vs. 6 says that a godly leader must not be a novice. (neophyton : from where we get our English word neophyte which means beginner or untrained). Spiritual leadership is tied to the God given ability to discern what is real and important in light of Gods Word, and what is superficial or false. Biblical leadership must fall on those (no matter what age) who have proven themselves, shown maturity in Christ and shown a God given ability for discernment. Hebrews 13:17 says, Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you. A true leader, pastor, elder, is one that will take this give an account very seriously, thus having a constant desire to discern all according to Gods Word.
