I have been silent on the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman case, - TopicsExpress

I have been silent on the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman case, but have been watching. I do stand with the majority of those on my feed in that I am disappointed in the verdict, but not surprised. That in itself is sad commentary when you can easily identify the imbalance in the judicial system holistically and therefore have a lack of faith in that system. What is further sad is the realization that there are some who are insensitive to loss of life and are in essence celebrating the verdict. It is unfortunate for all involved, but lets not forget one thing. Nothing would have brought Trayvon Martin back to his parents. A life was cut down at a young age for no reason other than being in a certain place at a certain time. These questions has been posed multiple times, but it is worth posing again. What is the next step? Those who switched their profiles to all black, what will you do now? Those who are local and know this is injustice, what will you do? If your belief is confirmed in that the Justice System is not in your favor, will you continue to act in a way that places you in its cross hairs or will you make adjustments? Bottom line: There was always a possibility that Not Guilty would be the verdict. The quest for some sense of "retribution" should never be completely in the hands of someone else. That being said, the greatest injustice that would be dealt would be to let this situation swiftly pass into a distant memory and be forgotten until the next "big incident". My two cents.
