I have been sitting on this for a while, but the more I work with people the more I realize how often this kind of thing happens.... A few months ago, I went in for a management interview with a company that will remain nameless. The interviewer was black (its relevant just give me a couple of sentences), and we had a fantastic interview until this statement came out of his mouth Im always trying to hook up my brothas and sistas... Referring to my ethnicity yall... Of course, I didnt give him, or the company, the time of day after that. I wanted the job based on my merrits, not my race. This man has (had) been with but company 26 years, imagine..! The point of this is that discrimination (and racism) goes both ways and isnt always derogatory. How can we expect change when there is discrimination within the discriminated... Rant over, TGIF :)
