I have been studying and researching and had hoped to set up two hives this spring. My local bee keeping classes begin in February, and there is the possibility of mentoring with local keepers. Yesterday, I rechecked my city ordinances, and NO bee keeping is permitted.I know, should have done that first.... I have saved, and waited until I felt I could be a responsible newbie beekeeper. Has anyone had to try to get ordinances changed in their communities to allow beekeeping( especially in light of the bee situation globally) ? What have you done, what would you recommend, and is this an impossible undertaking? We have been organic gardening , composting and all of the neighbors are on board... we checked with them first, before our first bee class last year. Last summer we rarely saw a bee on any of our fruit trees, or garden plants. It was very obvious that there is a very real problem.
