I have been thinking a lot today about OBI and have a little - TopicsExpress

I have been thinking a lot today about OBI and have a little story. I hope I have not already shared it. James Anderson Burns is related to me in the following way: his father and 3 of my gr-gr grandfathers were brothers. My gr-gr grandfather Henry Hensley gave the first cash gift of $50. to the new school, reportedly selling off his hogs to do so. My gr-grandfather William D. Ponder was such an ardent supporter of Burns and H.L. McMurray that he moved his family from Raders Creek to Oneida so that his children could attend the school and he donated much of the lumber for early buildings. His daughter, my grandmother, graduated in 1911 and her diploma remains in the family. My mother graduated in 1945 and in June 2015 will be attending Homecoming as a member of the 70 year class. Our daughter is a graduate of Asbury College, Wilmore, Ky. with a degree in Media Communications. She did an internship at KET and was allowed to make suggestions for topics. I had told her of the 100th anniversary of OBI and she suggested it as a good topic. It was accepted and she was part of the crew that attended the 100th celebration and helped with the filming. I hope most of the members of the group have seen the segment. Being an amateur family historian, I was thrilled to see our familys connection make a 100 year circle. Thanks for reading this post. I know that I am always wordy!
