I have been thinking about checking off boxes. Just doing things - TopicsExpress

I have been thinking about checking off boxes. Just doing things so that we can say we did them. Often we really do not think what our end goal is or where we are trying to end up or what we want to do. Success is based on several things. Mostly I think it is persistence and doing the right things. What are the right things? The things that will get you the results you want. Since that seems intuitive, why dont people do those things? Because there is an easier way. Frequently we look for the path of least resistance. This is the easy road so let us go down it. But it is not the road that leads to our destination. The road to higher ground goes uphill, which is always harder than downhill. But that is the direction of our destination. If we dont go the right way we wont end up where we want to be. Why am I bringing this up? Because I am frustrated with people, including myself, who make excuses or give half hearted efforts expecting outstanding results. To attain outstanding results one must make an outstanding effort. This has to do with every aspect of our lives. If we give mediocre efforts our results will be mediocre or less. This applies to our romantic, marriage or family relationships. This applies to our careers and salaries. This applies in our relationship with God and our efforts to do His will. It is not even that we earn our results but we are blessed for giving that effort and success occurs. There seems to me to be a certain law upon which success or blessings are predicated. When we comply with the law, give an outstanding effort, great things follow. So next time we are frustrated, think if you are really trying to achieve your goals or are you going through the motions to show others you are making an effort or to fool yourself. Dont do things to check off a box, do them because they are the right thing to do and will lead to your desired outcomes.
