I have been thinking about my dad today because I was using a tool of his this morning. When I was eleven he took me to the pub. Like many pubs in England it is no longer, which in this particular case is not a bad thing. He had never taken me to one before and I think there was some male bonding going on. It was a Sunday lunch-time, and my mum was cooking roast dinner at home while we were at this ‘spit and sawdust’ place, playing pool. Of course, they had a juke-box and of course I was checking it out. I had never heard AC/DC before then and I’m not quite sure why I wanted to listen to the band, but dad chucked me fifty pence, or however much it cost, and I punched in the number for ‘Whole Lotta Rosie’.
