I have been thinking of sharing this for some time. As most of you probably know our Becky was an organ donor. That was a complete surprise to me when I learned it at the hospital. At first I was upset but quickly realized it was her choice and so like her to want to be one. That did make letting her go harder as she had to be taken off life support in the operating room. Almost as soon as that happened we had to leave out. A very, very, hard thing. We knew that someday we could hear from one of her recipients. A few months ago we did. It was a young husband and father named Orlando who received her right kidney. That is all we know but he sent the sweetest letter to Beckys family. He called it an immense gift. He said because of this gift he is now able to enjoy his family and has been able to return to work and provide for them. He wrote about how joyful everyday has become just knowing he can see his sons grow to manhood. He had been on the waiting list for a long time and it was really taking a toll on his family. He closed the letter by saying, my family will always be grateful for this chance at life that you have given me, I will treasure this gift forever. Becky would be pleased. A facebook friend ask me to pray for a living donor for a dear friend of hers named Katie who needs a kidney transplant really soon so please friends pray for Katie.
