I have been thinking..... (thats a phrase that used to terrify my mum! She would shriek stop it!! I know when you are thinking that you are up to no good! Hee hee :-) Anyway - I have been thinking - and no, I am not plotting anything naughty :-) Despite this page only really getting going over the past 6 months or so, between us all we have raised enough money to sponsor a horses food in Egypt for a week, send a donation to a Sighthounds charity to help with medication for two little whippets and I have some money here to send to the Equine Grass Sickness Research fund. And I would really like to carry on doing little fundraisers for animals in need over 2015. So heres an idea - how about we put our heads together and pick 6 worthy animal charities? Throughout the year I will do some fundraisers, and will also choose a piece that will permanently have a percentage of sales that will be dedicated to charity. I was given a telling-off for choosing animal charities overseas - well, sorry, but to me an animal is an animal, no matter where it lives, and if it needs help I will do my best to help. So for that reason, I am picking three charities overseas. The wonderful Prince Fluffy Kareem in Egypt, who work so hard and yet always find time to thank their sponsors is my first choice. Secondly, the fabulous Greyhound lovers at Galgos del Sol, who are trying to build a new centre to be able to take in even more broken dogs who are just dumped when their usefulness has gone. And thirdly, Sirius Dog Sanctuary in my old home of Cyprus - the centre is packed to the rafters with dogs, conditions are not wonderful and yet the volunteers do their absolute best to take in as many unwanted dogs as possible. That leaves 3 UK charities - and this is where you come in. If you have the time, please put your thinking cap on, and nominate your three favourites in the comments below. On New Years Day, I will see which have been the most popular. If there is a tie, or a huge selection of different ones, I shall stick the names in a hat and ask the least hungover person I can find to pick out three winners. So - it is up to you now lovely people - any animal charity that takes your fancy is eligible! Wildlife rescue, cats and dogs, horses and ponies - they all need help at times so this is your chance to be their voice!
