I have been to the vet several times over the last 4 months for my 2 yr old westie Hanna because she started losing her hair and developing a reddish/black rash all over her body. She was on a short course of prednisone, food was changed to Rx hypoallergenic food, started giving her fish oil and coconut oil twice a day, and Benadryl twice a day. I also started giving her baths ever night for 2 weeks (now once a week) with ketoconazole (anti-fungal) shampoo, spraying her down with apple cider vinegar, and dusting her with medicated powder when dry. She seemed to be getting better, and her wire hair started to grow back finally!! However, in the last couple of weeks I’ve noticed clumps of her hair falling out again (there are clumps all over the carpet right after I vacuum). I can even grab ahold of her hair, pull, and have a chunk of hair in my hands. Also she has a really bad reddish/black inflamed rash in her front leg “arm-pits.” Here are some pics from November, December, and today. You can see where shes gotten better in some areas, but I feel like we are going backwards in others. I’m at my wits end! I don’t know what to do any more. If anyone has any further suggestions I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
