I have been very busy but on quite the roll as far as B4K goes lately.. Now I finally get a day off to recuperate and the powers that be decide to bestow a cold on me that pretty much left me useless all day.. Jocelyn loves to sit on daddys lap while hes on the computer putting in that work.. She stood by me several times whining, sometimes saying uppie, and doing the up gesture with her hands.. It broke my heart not being able to hoist her up as I dont want to get her sick.. But Im sure everyone wants to know about the current storm and the upcoming week.. Even up to after the Pats/Colts game, the media was saying that there were Winter Weather Advisories in the area.. What they didnt mention is that it was to the north and west in addition to it only being an inch or so of a wintry mix before changing over to rain.. Anything for ratings I suppose.. As for LI & NYC, I remain steadfast in what I posted a few days back.. I believe this will be an all rain event for us for the following reasons.. Lows tonight will be around 40 before surging into the 50-55 realm; that is too warm for snow.. The ocean temps are still around 50 as well and with the wind coming off the water, snow is not going to happen.. Lastly, this low will take a similar path to the last one in which the low will track close to the coast; as a result, we will not be on the colder side of the storm this time either.. A strong cold front is going to pass by tomorrow night that will make the temps tumble.. I expect the precip to end by the time that happens so I dont expect to see any flakes this time either.. Lows will plummet to around or just above freezing on Monday night so drive carefully as any standing water on the roads can freeze in eastern Long Island as well as areas north and west of NYC.. I also said that we were going to be getting the coldest air of the season on Tuesday and Wednesday with highs only in the mid 30s.. We also will experience lows in the 20s Tuesday night.. We will be almost 20 degrees below normal for this time of year.. Relatively milder air should move in for Thursday as Wednesday night wont be much colder than Wednesday before having the mid 40s making a comeback.. Evenso, that is still over 5 degrees below normal though it wont feel too bad if youre out in the sun with low wind.. I still feel that 50 or some 50s can make a return the following week as we will finally be back to normal.. It is too soon to tell whether or not there will be rain associated with it.. Long term, we will return to the cold to kick off December.. As a bold prediction to the end of my 2014 Fall Forecast, I said that we will get an early trace snow early on followed by a more moderate 3+ snow later in the month.. I also posted that this is our best shot at a White Christmas that weve had over the past few years.. My Winter 2014-2015 Forecast will be posted at the end of the month.. For the newer followers of The Norris Report, I will repost my 2014 Fall Forecast one last time as I tend to reference it quite a bit in my weekly forecasts.. You might think I have a jump on the weather or something after reading it, but it was posted 2 months ago!
