I have been watching the debate here on FB and said my bit. It has been fierce at times, like the houses of parliament at Prime Ministers questions. Yikes, but very good to exercise our right to free speech. We live in a democracy and it is only right in my view that the people of Chagford, especially those who have young children have a say in the future of our School. Nick and I did the fund raise and build of the veg garden. Here is what I think -Agreeing to a new build with out seeing the plans is ludicrous. We are being led up the garden path. Those with children at the school are in effect the clients, they should have a say. -What are we teaching our children when we just rip away the old to replace it with the new, especially the green areas they have been taught to nurture oh that doesnt matter now….its about integrity. -the look of the other school builds from the same program are devastatingly ugly. - Chagford could do better with some creative solutions. - take a leaf out of Sands School and get the kids involved, let them have a say, or at least a brain storm. That would be an education for everyone - Let the refurb be given a chance to shine. - Money is not everything, resourcefulness has a very big value too. -I would love to see the quad under glass with gourds, and cucumbers growing from the ceiling in the summer time. - to build the school from scratch as it is would cost more that the rebuild…. Good luck with it all. REFERB not replace.
