I have been working this year on a Gruntz version for WWI called Tommiez which is mostly because of an interest in reading I have for the period and the limited number of players because everyone loves the more mobile WW2 stuff. This year we are 100 years on from the start of WWI and so it felt relevant to have a shot at some rules. It is at a higher command level than Gruntz with each base representing a platoon and their is significant focus on off board artillery, aircraft missions etc. I will start to share more details toward the end of the year, it has been on a slow burn as a protect.
