I have brought this up to our semi-brilliant leaders a few times, but it doesnt seem to bother them. Through the internet, in 2009 Alderete registered with the State his Woodlawn Lake Park Foundation. He named himself as principal and his directors included Henry Cisneros, Ed Garza, Rene Gonzalez, and Gloria Hernandez. He listed an annual revenue of $110,000 and showed 3 employees. Dont know the purpose of this Foundation, the source of its revenue, or how the money was used. The Foundation suffered a tax forfeiture on February 10, 2012. Nothing shows how the assets were distributed. Alderete wanted the City to provide seed money for the Foundation and he intended to pay himself $75,000 a year to run it. During this time, he remained as Chair of the Earth Day event that takes place annually at Woodlawn Lake Park. I have asked if there could have been a conflict of interest and if Alderete listed the Foundation in an annual financial disclosure. I have gotten nothing but silence from Castro, Medina, and Urrutia. It is like they dont want to talk about it. Maybe there was nothing improper going on, but why dont they at least look into it and provide some answers? Did the City fund the Foundation? Is that why they are staying quiet?
