I have committed to embark on a 40-day, 1000-kilometer journey - TopicsExpress

I have committed to embark on a 40-day, 1000-kilometer journey from Manila to Tacloban, in time for Yolandas anniversary on November 8. Throughout the walk, we will be visiting local communities and local government units to urge them to commit to make laws that will help prevent and protect our people from the disastrous effects of climate change. This will also be a unifying call to all world leaders to craft a binding deal to solve the climate crisis. People are crying out for climate justice, so we cannot be silent. My friend (and boss), Commissioner Naderev Yeb Saño has fully committed to support Climate Walk: A Peoples Walk for Climate Justice. He has committed to walk all 40 days! This is not a publicity stunt, because there certainly are easier ways to gain popularity if that was all it is. This is about working hard towards fighting for survival. This is about having a vision, and about commitment despite the sacrifices we need to make. It is inspirational leadership. My support for this endeavour is not part of my job description. This is a personal choice as a climate activist. It is an honour that I can be in the midst of this climate revolution. I am extending an invitation to YOU, yes you, to join us. The send-off will be this October 2, which is the International Day for Nonviolence. See you this Thursday, at 6AM in Luneta! Or join us through various points across the country. More details can be found in Climate Walk or climatewalknow.
