I have debated over and over as to if I should put this in here..But after much thought...I am!! It is from Joan herself..in her book..My Way of Life..So she said..and I think it needs to be said...We dont have to agree..Remember...but it is worth posting...since this is her haven... I think I was a good mother. All four of my children were adopted, at the age of 10 days. after Id had a heartbreaking series of miscarriages. They understood they were especially chosen, and I think they were rather pleased about it.Of course every woman tries to be a good mother, and then wonders if, after all her best efforts, her children will wind up on a head shrinkers couch complaining about bad treatment. I was strict about things. The pediatrician told me that if all children took naps until they were twelve theyd be the healthiest ever. The kids hated as they grew older, but it certainly paid off in good health. They were taught self-sufficiency Id had to learn in quite a different way when I was working my way through school. She also goes on to say they ate together in the evenings if she could...and on Sundays they would go to Sunday school...and have adventures in the afternoons...Her time was precious with them...I am also not saying that she didnt discipline her children...I am merely copying from her book..So it has value to me...and me alone...Take it for what you will...
