I have deleted the previous 9/11 post I made, and have tagged all those who commented/liked to apologize for posting without fact-checking. After some research, Ive realized my previous post about 9/11 is inaccurate with its wording and has offended some, including my brother and other friends and family that are members of the military community. I never meant to offend, and I am truly sorry that I did. I only meant to point out the loss resulting from war, and I failed to see its lack of mention of the U.S. troops directly involved. I do work directly under the military and am allowed to live a dream life because of my government job. I am and forever will be grateful. I have known and have met many wonderful people that have chosen a military life and I will always be grateful for their sacrifice and for their choosing to fight evil and stand up for human rights. They are the ones that fight and sacrifice to keep everyone in their country safe. I would never NOT support them. I DO believe, however, that in an age of so many advances and so much possibility, and to have seen what humankind is capable of over short periods of time, there SHOULD be alternatives to war. With as intelligent as human beings supposedly are, you would think they would see by now that war only results in more war and hate and evil. After knowing about how many millions of people have died because of this, doesnt anyone else ask themselves, Is there any other way this can be resolved? I have realized that their are countless sources claiming to have accurate counts for lives lost and affected since 9/11. Its truly mind boggling and seems near impossible to find a 100% accurate count. With that said, these numbers are estimates based on multiple sites and sources. 2,977 people from more than 90 countries lost their lives in the attacks on the World Trade Center. Almost 3,000 people lost their lives afterwards due to lung and neurological disorders. Over 1,000 responders and people that lived near ground zero have been diagnosed with cancer. Nearly 49,000 (including almost 11,000 civilian) Pakistanis have been injured or killed following 9/11. Over 48,000 people have been injured and over 19,000 have lost their lives in Afghanistan, including the 4,560 Americans, 3,088 coalition troops, 2,726 contractors, 19 journalists and 14,676 Afghani civilians. Over 1,690,000 people have been injured and over 900,000 lost their lives in Iraq, including the 36,296 Americans, 2,614 coalition troops, 11,501 contractors, 142 journalists and 2,420,687 Iraqi civilians. Along with these numbers, there are countless veterans in need of medical services to help with PTSDs and other mental challenges when they return from war. Besides the never ending amount of people affected, lets not forget the over $4 TRILLION that has gone towards war funding that could have been used for education, food, water, shelter, job development and other humanitarian efforts.
