I have determined that when a founder runs a company as an MLM - TopicsExpress

I have determined that when a founder runs a company as an MLM instead of a business they tend to fail. So this raises the question... What is an MLM? According to the regulators an MLM stands for Multi-Level Marketing. And when you dig deeper to better understand what they mean, they are referring to the distribution and/or compensation structure a business uses to move its products and pay its sales force. Well this caused me to dig a little deeper, and I want to the IRS website to see if they have an industry code for MLM to see if maybe the regulators were wrong and MLM was a business model. What I again learned is the MLM is a distribution and compensation structure which falls under the Direct Selling Industry. Well now after reviewing what I had learned and two more Starbuck Peppermint Lattes I came to the following conclusion... Entrepreneurs who use a MLM/Network Marketing distribution and compensation structure to build their business are most successful when they realize the distribution channel and compensation plan are not their identity, but just a method in which they move products and compensate professional sales organizations. Which made me realize that those Home-Based Entrepreneurs who make up the sales and sales leadership community of direct sales should also realize their identity should not be tied to the way they market their products or get paid. Instead their identity should be tied to their Purpose for marketing the products of the company they represent. Ive never heard a professional in any other industry focus on the way they are marketing the products or how they get paid. Instead they focus on WHY they do what they do and HOW their products/services will fill the need or desire of their clients, customers and team members. And WHAT benefits the end user will enjoy from buying and using said products. Any thoughts?
