I have facebook friends on both the left and the right. On the right my facebook friends want to see the Keystone Pipeline approved. On the left, most are opposed. The environmentalists are opposed because they claim great harm will be caused to the environment. My bias is, of course, to be inclined to agree with that viewpoint. BUT . . . I think the decision should not rest on pre-conceived notions of the effect the pipeline would have or political bias but on what the science tells us. I grew up around scientists. My father spent his whole life in research and development and was an electrical engineer who did graduate work at MIT, no dummy he. He was the most rational man I knew growing up. So up or down Id like to see the decision made with a rational consideration of the science involved, not some hysterical biased political position. Politics and science do not mix well, so whatever the decision, yes or know, well get a lot of screaming from one side or the other. The trouble is whatever is reported by the media wont be adequate to determine whether the decision is made rationally with a proper consideration of the science involved. Probably well just be left with the usual polarized atmosphere instead of a rational view of the science involved. huffingtonpost/2014/02/01/obama-keystone-pipeline_n_4708484.html
