I have fallen I love with Manav Guptas clay pot sculpture - TopicsExpress

I have fallen I love with Manav Guptas clay pot sculpture depicting an Time as a fragile hourglass. Fragility. Balance, often precarious..something wild in me wants to disturb the tip-to-tip balance just to watch all of it collapse in a shattered heap of broken fragments. My breath stops when I look at this piece of art. Simplicity. The poor earthen pot. Made by the potters hand. Anonymous, like all of us..no matter what our grandiose delusions make us believe. Tempered by fire and made strong enough. Just enough to make it fulfill its purpose. I feel like I am part of this arrangement. Mostly balanced..though some days I collapse into a thousand shattered fragments. I love reflected inversions..my favorite being the ashwattha tree. The inverted tree of heaven. And yet this sculpture makes me wish I was at that point where heaven and earth met. Where a gust of air or a gentle nudge would break away my ties to earth and I would forever be steeped in spirituality. Little hollow clay pots, bits of fragmented time...fragile and heartstoppingly beautiful. Held in delicate and precise balance..how little it would take to shatter you. I must remember to breathe..
