I have family arriving later this evening, from back east. A massive contingent. We will do what families do: eat, drink, catch up with news (promptly forget the news we just caught up on), quietly talk about one another just out of earshot (he/she is really SO lovely, if only he/she would just blah blah blah...) I wrote this song a few years back, during a re-union like the one about to happen. We drove out to the cemetery to pay respects to my mother and father. I love these people. Young one asks his father what it was like When the ancients left and went away Father tells the boy Ah it was very sad Which is why we come here on this day...
